How to find an insurance agent or insurance company.

There are some easy things you can do to help find a good Columbus auto insurance (and other types of insurance) agent and at the same time a good auto insurance company. Before we go into the particulars of each though it’s important to know that in Ohio, auto insurance rates are regulated by the State of Ohio. What this means is that an auto insurance company can only charge auto insurance rates/prices that are on file with the Ohio Department of Insurance. So when you see really low rates advertised, know that you are probably looking at the auto insurance company’s lowest rates - the rates they offer drivers who have clean driving records and good insurance scores (credit), which isn’t most of us to varying degrees!

Finding a good agent is as simple as asking a friend or family member who lives in the Columbus Ohio area or the area in which you live who they bought their auto insurance from. You will be able to tell by that person’s answer wether or not they trust or like their insurance agent. If they hesitate when they answer your question act like you are interested, discard the information and look elsewhere.....THIS IS IMPORTANT...keep asking until you find someone who genuinely trusts their auto insurance agent to get them the best auto insurance policy with the right coverages at a fair price.

Finding a good insurance company is pretty much the same as finding a good insurance agent. Good insurance agents tend to be affiliated with good insurance companies. Insurance agents you can trust tend to have met a company’s highest standards for sales and service.

Remember this too, you will pay the auto insurance company’s filed rates no matter if you use an online auto insurance company or a local auto insurance agent that has been in the business for a while and is liked and trusted by his/her clients. I personally don’t think you’ll find a high level likeability, trust, personal commitment or knowledge using an auto insurance agent you find on a toll free number and most likely will forget after the phone call is over.
